Heritage Week 2010
at Civic Trust House

We are delighted to announce a new programme of free events as part of National Heritage Week which runs from August 21st-29th across Ireland. Culminating in a riveting talk by artist and visionary Anne Bernstorff, designer of a national treasure in-the-making, the week also features a talk on Cork theatre through the centuries, a Parlour Party and lunchtime story-telling. We look forward to opening the doors of our beautiful and atmospheric house!

Panel 13: The Thriving Port of Ros

Friday 27 th August @ 7.30pm

We are proud to welcome Anne Bernstorff to
Cork to give a presentation on the extraordinary Ros Tapestry project , in which a hundred embroiderers and millions of stitches have drawn in the threads of history. Creating a treasure on a par with France’s Bayeux tapestry requires a unique combination of vision, skill and support. Artist Anne Bernstorff, with her daughter Alexis a needlework specialist, have assembled and trained teams of dedicated embroiderers to create this new national treasure, a stunning 15-panel tapestry which tells the history of Norman New Ross.
